WHAT CUSTOMERS CAN EXPECT FROM WINDOWS SERVER 2022
Chatting to Pinnacle Microsoft Brand Manager, Michelle Olivier, she noted that resellers and their customers require four main things when considering their server needs – namely, flexibility, scalability, customer data security, and ease of access while working remotely. Microsoft has ensured that Windows 2022 meets all the above, but how do the three main editions compare?
One thing all the Windows 2022 versions have in common aside from their release date, is users have the option to install the server core and desktop version.

WINDOWS SERVER 2022 STANDARD EDITION
Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition is the primary version among the three and the single licence version only has the capability to accommodate two virtual machines plus one Hyper-V host per license, as well as two Virtual OSE/ Hyper-V isolated Containers. General features such as Hotpatching and Software-defined Networking and not provided for in the edition. Storage Replica is available with a limit of one partnership and one resource group with a capacity of 2 terabytes.
WINDOWS SERVER 2022 DATACENTER EDITION
One step above the Standard Edition we have the Datacenter Edition. Unfortunately, Hotpatching is also not provided for in this edition, but Software-defined Networking is however included. Also included in this package is protected VMs, Host Guardian Hyper-V Support, as well as support for Shielded Virtual Machines. As opposed to the Standard Editions limited Storage Replica capabilities, the Datacenter Edition offers unlimited Storage Replica and includes the Storage Spaces Direct.
