Credit Controller Role Description

Reporting to the Regional Credit Manager, the successful candidates will be based in Nelspruit and will be responsible for the following:

Key Responsibilities

 

  •  Project a presentable and friendly image to clients with a professional telephone manner
  • Carry out full function of credit control
  • Ensure that all queries relating to requests for proof of delivery, goods returned, rebates or claims will be resolved within a reasonable timeframe
  • Supervision of other admin staff
  • Oversee accounts payable job function
  • Oversee reception job function
  • Assist with all branch HR related matters and control of staff files kept at the branch
  • Control of petty cash
  • Carry out annual archiving according to company policy
  • Liaise with warehouse staff as well as sales staff on issues related to debtors' control.
  • Liaise with sales staff, regarding status of account and discuss overdue amounts, which are not resolved and find a solution to prevent aging of accounts
  • Accept responsibility for the performance and duties as laid down by company policy
  • Monthly debtor’s reconciliations
  • Daily telephonic collections and recording of such action on system
  • Daily action of outstanding queries
  • Monthly Cash flow / banking forecasting
  • Processing daily receipt and ageing debtor’s accounts correctly and assisting cash book clerks to resolve queries
  • Daily assistance to other departments such as sales and procurement
  • Maintaining debtors ageing according to terms and credit limits
  • Reporting default of payment to Regional Financial Manager
  • Meet monthly collection targets and reduce number of day’s sales outstanding
  • Minimize credit risks
  • Maintain credit insurance limits with Credit Guarantee
  • Submit new applications for credit terms and insured limits online with Credit Guarantee
  • Submit new applications online with LCM Credit Risk for credit assessments
  • Attend debtors meetings and report on ageing
  • Issue final demands
  • Attend to claims submitted online with Credit Guarantee
  • Attend to monthly statements and close-off procedure
  • Assisting with the overall administrative functions in the branch as and when required

Requirements

 

  • Matric is essential and a tertiary qualification will be an advantage
  • Minimum of (5) years relevant experience in credit control
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license
  • Vaccination Certificate Required
  • Strong reconciliation skills
  • Ensure client satisfaction
  • Excellent administration skills required
  • Ability to carry out instructions
  • Ability to sense unnecessary credit risks and escalate problems to management
  • Ability to work and perform without direct supervision
  • Good time management and well organized i.e., deadline-driven, able to plan and prioritize a high workload
  • Above average computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
