Notebook Technician Role Description

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidates will be based in Midrand and will be responsible for the following: 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for testing laptops, diagnosing, troubleshooting, identifying parts needed, and repairing hardware issues on customers’ laptops - Expected to meet set KPI and quality standards 
  • Identify the required components needed to resolve hardware issues 
  • Repair computers by replacing faulty components such as LCD screens, motherboards, keyboards, Hard drives, Memory modules etc 
  • Clearly document and explain repair resolution 
  • Engage with and reassure customers to deliver exceptional service 
  • Exceed key performance objectives including service and repair metrics (TAT) 
  • In depth knowledge of Computer hardware & software configuration, troubleshooting 
  • Contributes to team effort by taking on additional tasks as needed

Requirements

 

  • Matric with mathematics is essential and an A+ certification is required 
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ of Laptop Repair experience (Dell, Lenovo, Asus and HP) 
  • A minimum of one to two (1-2) years’ of experience in disassembling and reassembling Laptops, Desktops and Tablets 
  • Ability to quickly diagnose hardware issues 
  • Ability to differentiate between a hardware issue and a software issue 
  • Ability tear down and rebuild laptops and desktops quickly and neatly 
  • Willing to work in a team environment, share knowledge, and creative solutions 
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license 
  • Good time management and well organized i.e., deadline driven, able to plan and prioritize a high workload
  • Above average computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
