Product Manager Role Description

Reporting to the Brand Director, the successful candidates will be based in Midrand and will be responsible for the following: 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Product Knowledge
     
    • Huawei specific knowledge and understanding of the Huawei Consumer Devices Range and value proposition will be very beneficial 
    • Understanding and continuous development on product knowledge 
    • Provide relevant product training internally and to the different branches 
    • Provide reports and target tracking information as required 
    • Engage with all relevant parties at Pinnacle and subsidiary companies 
    • Understand and implement Pinnacle strategy and policies in alignment with product 
    • Product support (PDF Spec Sheets, Web Info, Sales Support, Customer Support-Systems Integrators) 
    • Product pricing
    • Web page product updates 

  • Manage the profitability of products 

    • Assist sales staff with quotations 
    • Provide pre-sales and post-sales support to sales staff 
    • Ensure all resources are aligned 

  • Training

    • Stay constantly updated with all developments and trends in the Client Device market relating to Notebooks, PC’s, Tablets, Mobile Broadband and Wireless Router Devices as well as Wearable Devices 
    • Understand technology roadmaps 

  • Logistical

    • Assist with product codes, pricelists on system and costings 
    • Attend weekly sales meetings and assist in resolving stock issues 

  • Manage stock efficiently

    • Drive active and aging stock 
    • Assist the logistics and warehouse teams with vendor recalls 
    • Understand the logistical process 
    • Process sales orders and purchase orders on ERP system from local and international suppliers 
    • Assist in order managing process to maintain service and stock levels 

  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships

    • Manage rebates and incentives from suppliers 
    • Liaise with suppliers for promotional funds and materials 
    • Maintain relationships with customers to understand their requirements and incorporate into the stock forecasting

Requirements

 

  • Matric with mathematics is essential, a Sales and Marketing tertiary qualification and/or a relevant diploma will be an advantage 
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ Product Management experience 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the IT market and the specific needs around the different market segments (sub-distributors, resellers, and end-users) is essential 
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license 
  • Good time management and well organized i.e. deadline driven, able to plan and prioritize a high workload 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers as well as have a grasp of the different cultures 
  • Ability to complete a task with minimum supervision 
  • Customer focused and delivering above average customer service i.e., customer satisfaction principles and practices 
  • Meet weekly and/or monthly targets 
  • Spreadsheet knowledge in drawing up and utilizing reports (stock management, product reordering, ageing stock etc.) 
  • Above average computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
