Role Description

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Full-time and Office based

Reporting Line: Channel Sales Manager

Job Purpose

The purpose of this BDM position is to identify new business opportunities and develop relationships with existing customers to expand Pinnacle’s presence into the Channel Customers and thereby grow sales revenue.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, growing customer relationships, and driving the growth of Channel Sales solutions and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve gross profit target.
  • Achieve vendor sell in / sell out objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends,
    customers, products and services.
  • Seek out the appropriate contacts at end-users and resellers to drive sales.
  • Own and drive relationships with resellers.
  • Grow share of wallet within these customers and end-users.
  • Meet with customers face to face to establish and build relationships.
  • Drive internal and reseller incentives and promotions.
  • Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these and deliver the exceptional.
  • Think strategically – carrying out necessary planning to implement project rollouts
    and operational changes/ challenges
  • Train internal and reseller sales staff.
  • Provide training at end-user level when necessary.
  • Discuss, implement, and execute promotional strategy and activities with internal marketing team and relevant component vendors.
  • Liaise with all business departments as appropriate to stream-line internal sales process and challenges.
  • Attend customer events, conferences, and training where appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the ICT industry.
  • Help to plan sales campaigns and sell-through acceleration.
  • Engage and drive the Pinnacle pipeline.
  • Negotiate pricing with customers and suppliers in some cases.

Requirements

Experience and Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 5 years of sales experience in an External Sales or Business Development
    position.
  • A minimum of 5 years of sales experience within the ICT Distribution industry.
  • Proven track record of sales success within the ICT Distribution industry.
  • Knowledge of the IT market, Reseller Channels, Marketing and Promotional strategies is
    essential.
  • Previous experience selling and working with customers at all levels of an organization
    including high-profile customers.
  • Experience in identifying sales opportunities and using skill set to develop solutions
  • Understanding of IT industry and OEM Channel.
  • Have knowledge of roadmaps and product life cycles.
  • Must be able to display relevant technical product knowledge.

Skills and Education:

  • Matric with mathematics is essential, a tertiary qualification and/or a relevant diploma will be
    an advantage.
  • Strategic thinker with strong planning and execution skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good time management and well-organized.
  • Excellent customer engagement and proven relationship-building skills.
  • General business acumen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
