Role Description

Full-time and Office based

Reporting Line: PE Branch Manager

Job Purpose

 

The purpose of the External Account Manager is to manage, nurture and expand valued customer relationships through consistent communication and dedicated relationship building.

You will play a pivotal role in recognizing and addressing customer needs with tailored solutions, actively contributing to the organization's growth by surpassing sales targets and welcoming new customers into our network. A key function will be to collaborate closely with the sales team and other departments to ensure a seamless customer experience and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with external customers, understanding their needs and requirements: 
    • Establish and grow a new client base
    • Manage and maintain customer relationships 
    • Deliver product presentations and entertain clients
    • Negotiate contracts with customers 
  • Drive sales growth by developing and implementing strategic plans to achieve sales targets and increase market share within assigned accounts:  
    • Maintain current customer database and forecasts
    • Develop sales plans per account
    • Generate sales leads and constant follow up with deals
    • Achieve monthly sales targets  
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business expansion, including cross-selling and upselling products and services: 
    • Identify sales opportunities to market products and the company
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics and product knowledge to effectively advise customers and drive sales 

     

    • Attend product training and events

  • Manage the sales process and administration:

     

    • Managing the sales process

       

    • Compile quotations

       

    • Following up on quotes and convert to orders

       

    • Processing and administration of relevant sales documentation

       

    • Analyse sales data, generate forecasts and prepare sales reports 

  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and resolving issues

     

    • Provide exceptional customer support throughout sales cycle 

       

  • Collaborate with internal teams including sales, brand and logistics to co-ordinate efforts and ensure seamless execution of account strategies 

Requirements

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in External Sales 

     

  • Minimum of 3 years of account management experience within the IT industry 

     

  • Established network at various levels within the reseller and end-user sector

     

  • Sales experience within the IT Distribution industry is preferred 

     

  • Proven track record of closing deals within the IT industry (references are required)

Skills and Education:

  • Matric, preferably with mathematics

     

  • A tertiary qualification and/or a relevant diploma in Sales, Marketing, or IT 

     

  • Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

     

  • Proven sales skills, ability and track record

     

  • Excellent verbal and written business communication

     

  • Good presentation skills

     

  • Good time management skills

     

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

     

  • Developed negotiation skills
